Glasgow is served by two airports - Glasgow International and Glasgow Prestwick.
Both are linked to a good road network and easy coach travel. Glasgow Prestwick has a rail link.

Glasgow International Airport
This is the nearest to the City. It is a 20 minute drive along the M8 Motorway into the City Centre. It is the fourth busiest airport in the United Kingdom and handles 6.7 million passengers per year. Over 40 airlines operate from the airport to 85 direct routes and indirectly through Amsterdam, Heathrow London, Gatwick London and Birmingham Midlands to destinations all over the world.

Getting to the City Centre from the airport
By car and coach is the best way to reach the city from the airport. If you are travelling after morning and evening rush hours the journey should take 15-20 mins. The rush hours are 7.00am until 9.15am and 4pm until 6.30pm Monday to Friday. At rush hour peak times the journey could take anything up to 40 minutes. If you are travelling back to the airport allow yourself plenty time for the journey as the airport is also very busy at these times.

Coach travel is the least expensive method of travel, single tickets can be purchased from the driver for a few pounds. A taxi from the airport will cost you more, from £20 depending on the area of the city you are travelling to. The taxi rank is outside domestic arrivals (photograph above). This is well managed and the taxis are usually clean and comfortable.

You can get a small transfer coach to the near by rail station at Paisley and then onwards to the City or elsewhere on to the West Coast.

Glasgow Prestwick International Airport
This airport handles most of the freight that comes into the country as well as offering low cost fares to other areas in the United Kingdom and Europe. Flights to Paris, Nice, Dublin, London, Belfast, Frankfurt are part of the regular schedule as well as flights to Florida, Majorca and Turkey.

Getting to the City Centre from the airport
This is located to the South West of Glasgow. It is over a 30 minute drive from Prestwick to Glasgow City Centre, depending on traffic conditions this could be 45 minutes.

The advantage of Prestwick is that it has a rail link to Glasgow City Centre. Low cost fares are offered to passengers who have flown into the airport. Presently, you pay only £5 return for a rail ticket that takes you to Glasgow Central. This is a 25 min journey and the station is at the main terminal. A short walk from the train and you are at the check in desks. Car parking is also much lower than Glasgow International Airport. Coaches from the airport to the City operate on a regular basis.
