The cafes in Glasgow have evolved, shaped by past tradition and an American influence.

Traditionally the cafes served food, ice cream and coffee. They were a place to meet friends and to eat. Many have survived and are still enjoyed to this day.

Starbucks style of coffee house has arrived in Glasgow. Contemporary design and large selection of coffees and pastries attract visitors and workers alike. There are still a number of Glasgow owned contemporary cafes.
